It's Pumpkin Season!

authorStaff Writer on Sep 14, 2023

At the two pumpkin patches, the seven-acre “U-Pick” Barnyard Pumpkin Patch and the eight acres at the South U-Pick, you can stop in for fall fun any time after they open for the season, but September 23 and 24 are on the calendar as the Pumpkin Festival.

“Our produce festivals are a nice way for us to let the community know that a certain crop is in, and celebrate it,” said Edward Harbes IV, the latest generation of the farm to lead operations.

The Pumpkin Festival is the longest-running festival at Harbes and a tradition for families to attend across the Twin Forks.

The South U-Pick is across from the original farm stand and offers on-the-vine pumpkin picking, delicious fall concession foods, a Wizard of Oz-themed corn maze, a hayride, Harbes Vineyard wines and live music. While there you can also visit Harbes Barnyard Adventure, which includes pig races and a musical hayride tour of the 100-acre farm, There are farm animals, bounce pillows, a Sports Zone with baseball, football, and basketball tossing games, “Lil’ Farmers PlayLand,” filled with fun activities for preschoolers, a trike track, an obstacle course, a hedge maze, a musical animatronic chicken show, and much more. Admission may apply.

There will be live music from 1 to 5 p.m. in the courtyard/picnic area at the main area of the farm and at the South U-Pick Pumpkin Patch both days. Saturday, popular Long Island singer-songwriter Bryan Gallo will perform in the courtyard/picnic area. On Sunday, singer-guitarist Deanna Hudson performs.

Harbes Wine Barn, located behind the main farm stand, offers tastings of Harbes wines, which may be enjoyed in the courtyard.
