May your Easter and Passover holidays be sunny and happy.

I am psyched! I just enjoyed a great breakfast at East Quogue’s newest sensation: the Beachside Bagel Café. It was hard to make up my mind as there were so many delicious choices: French toast, pancakes, scrambled eggs, omelets and, of course, all flavors of bagels.

So, if you haven’t been there yet, stop by soon and say “hi” to the new owners: Laurie, Nick, Dottie and Jimmy.

A memorial service for former East Quogue resident Lloyd White will be held at the East Quogue United Methodist Church on Saturday, April 14. It starts at 2 p.m.

Congratulations to the new officers and board members of the East Quogue Beautification Committee: Bob Kandell, president; Al Algieri, vice president; Cathy Seelinger, secretary; and Joan Hughes and Isabella Phillips, board members. (I will be serving as treasurer!)

The Quogue Wildlife Refuge has several fantastic events scheduled for this weekend. Celebrate the arrival of spring with a Full Moon Night Hike that begins at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, April 6, and the annual Egg Hunt takes place on Sunday, April 8, at 9:30 a.m. For more information on these events, please visit

On display during April at the Art Gallery at the Quogue Library will be “A Life in Art,” featuring the paintings of Salvatore Gulla. Self-described as a Renaissance man, his work ranges from classical portraiture to expressionistic abstractions. An artist’s reception will take place on Saturday, April 7, from 2:30 until 4:30 p.m. All are welcome.

The East Quogue fourth annual Wildcat 5K will be held on Saturday, May 5. Hosted by the East Quogue Elementary School Wellness Committee, this year’s race will be sponsored by The Wounded Warrior Project. Donations, pledges and raffle prizes are needed. For more information, please contact Brad Murphree at 664-1987.

And, finally, save the date: The Quogue Wildlife Refuge’s sixth annual Wild Night for Wildlife will be held on Saturday, July 21, from 7 until 10 p.m., at the historic Quogue Village home of my friends, Nancy Mullan and John Demirjian.

On The Calendar
