$40 Million Sale In Bridgehampton

author27east on Jan 13, 2015

A house on approximately 2 oceanfront acres on Mid Ocean Drive in Bridgehampton sold for $40 million last year.

The sale was recorded with the county in December 2014. Officially listed as 125 Mid Ocean Drive LLC, the buyer appears to have been Jonathan Oringer, the billionaire founder of Shutterstock, a stock photography, video and music provider based in New York, whose name is listed as the most recent payor of taxes ($36,338) in Southampton Town records.

The seller, David Susser, had purchased the 2.2-acre property for $11.45 million in 2011 from Reuben Gutoff. It was one of the top sales in the Hamptons at that time.

At $40 million, the more recent sale sounds like a nice turn of profit, even taking into account the addition of a new eight-bedroom house with a pool and other amenities in 2014. A 2011 listing, with floor plans, showed what seems to have been a relatively minuscule house on the property.
