Billy Joel’s oceanfront home in Sagaponack closed for $19 million last week.
On Gibson Lane, the property went into contract in July. On a little more than an acre, the 5,550-square-foot, bungalow-style house with an upside-down layout was advertised with Nancy Mizrahi of Saunders & Associates as having 180-degree ocean views, 145 feet of beachfront and a permit for a pool. It was built in 1994 for the late actor Roy Scheider, of “Jaws” fame, who sold the property to Mr. Joel in 2007.
The new buyer’s name was not disclosed.
On Tuesday, The New Daily News reported that Mr. Joel recently also sold a Manhattan apartment one floor below an $11 million penthouse at 128 Central Park that he sold last year.
