Every so often there is a burst of real estate activity in the hamlet of Bridgehampton, and the last couple of weeks have been one of those times. The first transaction we’re telling you about is not the biggest in Bridgehampton, but has an interesting story behind it.

Selling for $1,600,000 was 33 Grouse Drive, and the seller was Cornelia Foss. At 93, her full life continues. Born in Germany, her family immigrated to St. Louis to escape the Nazis. In 1951, she married the conductor and composer Lukas Foss. In 1968, she moved with her two children to Toronto to live with the pianist Glenn Gould. (A documentary about this relationship titled “Genius Within” was released in 2009.) Four years later she was back, and she and Foss remained married until his death in 2009. Cornelia Foss’s field is not music but painting, and she maintained studios in New York and Bridgehampton. The same year that her husband passed away, she was elected as a member of the National Academy of Arts.

The biggest transaction by far recently was 97 Mid Ocean Drive, 1.4 acres sold to Kzolp Realty Trust for $19.5 million.

The oceanfront land, itself, had been listed with Bespoke Real Estate for $24.9 million, and that’s all the purchaser bought.

The property was also listed for $44.9 million, which included the plans, permits and building of a Andre Kikoski-designed state-of-the-art home.

With East End developer J. Bialsky leading the build, the design called for 10,000 square feet, with walls of glass providing sweeping panoramic views of the Atlantic Ocean from nearly every room in the house, while sunset vistas over Mecox Bay could be enjoyed from the rooftop deck. The conceptional house would have exceptional levels of natural light, including a triple-height entrance atrium that features soaring floor-to-ceiling windows. An ideal two-story arrangement, accessed by the glass-encased stairs or elevator, provides a sophisticated well-thought-out plan to maximize oceanfront living. The plan has 10 bedrooms and 11 total bathrooms, and a pool and attached 3-car garage. Amenities include a family room, media room, large sauna, and staff quarters.

Next up is 206 Halsey Lane, which was picked up by a limited liability company for $6,550,000. The 5,261-square-foot home has 5 bedrooms and 6.5 baths on 1.5 acres. Appealing features include a fireplace, patio and garage as well as plenty of space for expansion. And we don’t want to leave out 16 Highland Terrace, whose new owner, thanks to a payment of $5,995,000, is Sutton Farms LLC. The main house has 5 bedrooms, including a master with a vaulted ceiling, antique beams, and plenty of bookshelves. The property contains a cottage vaulted with barn beams, and there’s a fireplace and sleeping loft. There’s also a separate garage with an unfinished loft. In all, there’s 5,000 square feet of living space, set on 0.92 of an acre, which also boasts a garden and pool.
