Community Preservation Fund revenue for the first half of the year is down 23.8 percent compared to the first half of last year, an indicator that the Hamptons real estate market has softened.
The total revenue produced in the five East End towns through a 2 percent real estate transfer tax was $38.23 million, down from $50.17 million, according to the office of New York State Assemblyman Fred W. Thiele Jr.
East Hampton Town saw the steepest decline among the five East End towns, sinking 30.1 percent to $11.72 million. Southampton Town slid 23.3 percent to $20.61 million.
