Someone who has produced a hundred documentary films has earned a rest, and one hopes Regina Scully will find some at her new home in East Hampton. She recently purchased a house on The Circle in the village for $1.5 million.

The modest but well-located shingled cottage has 2 bedrooms and 2 baths within 1,335 square feet on 0.17 acre. According to one description, the “front entrance flows to a kitchen with breakfast area, light-filled dining, and living room with fireplace.” Another feature is a long row of wooden French doors which open to a rear garden with a bluestone terrace, and the property with its mature landscaping and lush lawn is surrounded by tall privet.

Among her many accomplishments, Ms. Scully is the founder and CEO of the Artemis Rising Foundation, a philanthropic organization that promotes media and arts education, and RPR Marketing Communications, a public relations agency in New York City specializing in consumer products and brands.

She has obviously spent a lot of time behind a camera to make as many as a hundred documentaries. Among the titles on Ms. Scully’s resume are the Oscar-nominated “The Invisible War” (about rape in the military), “Maya Angelou: And Still I Rise,” “Newtown,” “Anita Hill: Speaking Truth to Power,” “Dreamcatcher,” “Alive Inside,” and “Under the Gun.”

Along the way, she won three Emmy Awards, and she found time to produce “’Til It Happens To You,” the theme song for the documentary “The Hunting Ground” sung by Lady Gaga and also nominated for an Oscar.

Ms. Scully’s involvement in education includes launching inner-city charter schools such as the Success Academy Schools in New York and the Making Waves Academy in Northern California. She also serves on the Harvard Women’s Leadership Board and on the boards of the Women’s Media Center and Georgetown Institute for Women, Peace, and Security. Seems like a time-out in East Hampton is well-deserved.

Hamptons Rental Market Remains Alive and Well

To paraphrase Mark Twain, reports of the demise of the Hamptons summer-rental market are greatly exaggerated. “Any hint that the Hamptons rental market is anything but robust is completely wrong,” said Corcoran associate broker Gary DePersia in East Hampton. An interesting dynamic is stirring in the Hamptons vacation-rental market. Although there has been an unprecedented rise in short-term rentals and the aftershocks of the COVID-19 pandemic linger, it has been a bumper crop year for Wall Street, interest rates have remained steady and a new breed of demanding customer is emerging. Despite it all, the Hamptons vacation-rental market remains as ... 19 Jun 2025 by Joseph Finora
