A former U.S. Life-Saving Station in Quogue sold around the turn of the year for $10.05 million, exceeding its asking price by more than 12 percent.
On 1.1 acres at 84 Dune Road, the residence comes with a wrap-around mahogany porch, a gunite pool, an expansive lawn, a catwalk to the beach, a detached bungalow, an outdoor shower and a raised deck seating area on top of the dunes.
The first floor includes a foyer, a living room with fireplace, a dining room, an eat-in kitchen, a family room, a sun room and two bedrooms. The nearly 4,000-square-foot residence has five bedrooms and three bathrooms in all.
“The property was originally a Coast Guard station in the 1800s, and the owners did a magnificent job restoring it,” Morabito said. “When we first took on the listing, I knew it would require the right buyer. We had several below-ask offers over the past year, but I advised my client to hold out for ‘the one.’ I knew it would be worth the wait, and it was. The home sold for $1,100,000 over the asking price in a bidding war to a buyer who fell in love with the history and the charm.”
The seller was Mark Burchill and the new owner is Gardner Tompkins LLC, according to Suffolk Vision Inc.
