A hedged and gated estate with a stucco and shingle residence close to the ocean in Southampton Village recently sold for $16.25 million with a last asking price of $18.95 million.

The address is 146 Foster Crossing, and it went on the market back in April 2022 with a price tag of $22.5 million before the list price was reduced.

The main house with new additions by architect Steven Harris is 6,020 square feet with six bedrooms and 6.5 bathrooms. The listing says the sun-filled, three-level home created for idyllic seaside living has an evident European sensibility “from the superb architecture to the exceptional build and execution using the finest of materials.”

A gravel and slate courtyard leads to the front entry with a Dutch door. Inside are leaded glass doors, Venetian plaster walls and wide white oak floors. South-facing rooms open to terraces, several of which that can be covered as desired.

The living room has an open fireplace, and the living room and the formal dining room access separate terraces with views of the garden. The kitchen with a 22-foot ceiling has slabs of marble and walls of glass. Rounding out the first floor are a sitting room, a sunroom, a guest wing with two bedrooms and two bathrooms, a mud-room and a laundry room.

The master suite with a private balcony with garden views is upstairs along with two large guest suites

The lower level has a gym, media-lounge area, a bunkroom, a full bathroom and a wine cellar.

A two-car garage is attached.

Outside, the amenities include a 60-foot swimming pool, terraces, al fresco dining area, an outdoor kitchen, an outdoor shower and a vegetable garden.

Associate broker Tim Davis of Corcoran represented the listing and brought the buyer as well.

“What makes this property very special is that it’s a light-filled home in perfect condition,” Davis said. “It also has a brilliant location just four houses from the ocean.”

The deal closed on October 27, 2022, according to The Real Estate Report Inc., which identified the sellers as Laura and Paul Young and the new owner as Azure Southampton LLC.
