Brown Harris Stevens, the affiliate of Christie’s International Real Estate, has recently announced the addition of Jonathan Davis to the firm at its Southampton office.
The move by Mr. Davis comes just weeks after he left Compass Real Estate over a contract dispute, adding further drama to the rivalry between the two firms, which are competing aggressively in both Manhattan and the Hamptons.
Compass has developed a reputation in recent months for attracting some of the hottest real estate agents in the field, including top-producing agent Kyle Blackmon, who left Brown Harris Stevens in 2014 to join Compass. Last year, BHS sued former manager Ed Reale, who had defected to Compass, for allegedly violating a non-compete clause. That suit is still ongoing.
Mr. Davis began his career in real estate working under his father, Tim Davis, a top-ranking agent at the Corcoran Group with dozens of listings across the East End, as well as the British West Indies.
Arthur Zeckendorf, co-chairman of Brown Harris Stevens, publicly welcomed Mr. Davis to the BHS team, saying in a press release, “Jonathan has a digital marketing savvy and inherited knowledge of the business.” These factors, he points out, are greatly valued by clients.
In addition to his work at Corcoran and Brown Harris Stevens, Mr. Davis started “On the Inside,” an ultra-high-end real estate platform that includes a print magazine and website aimed at attracting the top echelon of homeowners in the Hamptons, Palm Beach and elsewhere.
Cia Comnas, executive managing director of Brown Harris Stevens, said the firm is eager to help expand the platform, stating that the “business model and client base are a perfect fit with the Brown Harris Stevens brand.”
