After 18 months on the market, the East Hampton manse of the late talent manager Sandy Gallin has been sold, according to Douglas Elliman Real Estate.

Until illness inspired him to retire, Mr. Gallin had a decades-long career in the entertainment industry representing such luminaries as Dolly Parton, Michael Jackson, Barbra Streisand, Whoopi Goldberg, Cher, and Neil Diamond. The purchase price of his house has not been disclosed, but the property was last listed at $18,900,000. The original ask was $22,500,000.

Mr. Gallin, who died this past April in Los Angeles a month shy of his 77th birthday, also managed the careers of Joan Rivers, Lily Tomlin, Mariah Carey, Nicole Kidman, Olivia Newton-John, Osmond Brothers, Patti LaBelle, Paula Abdul, Pointer Sisters, Richard Pryor, Roseanne Barr, and the hit-making groups America and KC and the Sunshine Band. He even had a hand in booking the Beatles on “The Ed Sullivan Show” back in 1964, during the Fab Four’s first American tour.

Not bad for a kid whose first job in the entertainment business was in the mail room at a small talent agency. As Mr. Gallin worked his way up the ladder, early clients included Phyllis Diller, Steve Lawrence and Eydie Gorme, Laura Nyro and Joni Mitchell. He also signed such up-and-comers as Tiny Tim and Cass Elliot, the latter soon joining with three other musicians to form the Mamas & the Papas. Mr. Gallin’s horizons broadened during his years of booking talent for such popular television shows as “Hollywood Palace” and “Hullabaloo” as well as Sullivan’s Sunday night ratings-grabber. He then branched out on his own, founding Gallin & Associates in Los Angeles.

A very successful move was teaming with Dolly Parton to form the film and TV company Sandollar Productions. Its features and shows included remakes of “Father of the Bride” and “Sabrina” along with the TV series “Buffy the Vampire Slayer.” When he became a tad tired of Hollywood, Mr. Gallin moved to Las Vegas where, with the casino impresario Steve Wynn, he formed Mirage Entertainment & Sports, which involved new musicals for hotels on the Strip.

Somewhere along the way, Mr. Gallin found time to enjoy his compound at 466 Further Lane, where he hosted parties riddled with bold-face names, and he became an interior designer. When Gallin married several years ago, guests at the celebration included Barry Diller, Diane von Furstenberg, Donna Karan, and Calvin Klein. Alas, the marriage lasted only a year, with sources citing the problem being the age difference between the 70-something Gallin and his 35-year-old husband.

The new owner of the East Hampton estate will enjoy a 7-bedroom, 9-bath, 6,500-square-foot traditional that sits on 2.11 acres and features an apple orchard, gunite pool, four outbuildings, separate spa, chef’s kitchen, gym, pool house, outdoor entertainment area, stone installations … and, of course, a screening room.
