Approximately 100 parcels will be sold to the highest bidder during this year’s Suffolk County Real Property Auction, which will be held online on Wednesday and Thursday, December 10 and 11, beginning at 9:30 a.m. both days.

“Suffolk County continues to explore opportunities to make this county more affordable for our residents,” Suffolk County Executive Ed Romaine said in a press release. “By embracing modern technology and creating more opportunities for its residents and taxpayers to potentially become homeowners through this online platform, we are taking another step toward achieving that goal.”

For the fourth time, the auction will be hosted online, which allows for greater participation by not requiring in-person attendance and uses fewer county resources to run the event, according to the release. Realauction.com, LLC will host the auction at no cost to the county, the release said, and a $325 auction fee per property is paid by each winning bidder.

The auction website hosts training webinars and provides information on how to register and navigate the online public auction. All properties are viewable online via GIS access on both the Suffolk County RealAuction.com website and Suffolk County’s website. Additionally, telephone help desk services are available both through the auction vendor and the Suffolk County 311 call center.

“The Suffolk County Real Property Auction helps to relieve the tax burden for taxpayers,” the release said, “and provides an unparalleled opportunity for individuals to become property owners in Suffolk County at a reasonable cost.”

Registration is open until Wednesday, December 3. For more information, visit suffolk.ny.realforeclose.com.
