Pro golfer Raymond Floyd has closed on the sale of his Southampton compound “Mulligan” for $16 million—$9 million less than the original asking price when the property hit the market just more than a year ago.

The 3.25-acre estate with a 10,000-square-foot main house was represented by Harald Grant of Sotheby’s International Realty. According to Sotheby’s, the sale closed on September 13.

In addition to the main residence with covered porches, decks and brick patios, the estate includes gardens, a heated swimming pool, a Har-Tru tennis court and separate shingle-sided guest house. Altogether, there are 12 bedrooms, 12 full bathrooms and three half-baths.

Mr. Floyd, whose 76th birthday was this month, has been a member of both Atlantic Golf Club in Bridgehampton and Shinnecock Hills Golf Club in Southampton, the latter of which hosted the U.S. Open this June. It is said that his victory at Shinnecock Hills during the 1986 Open went a long way toward persuading Mr. Floyd and his late wife, Maria, to purchase the property at 65 Captains Neck Lane that would become Mulligan.

The property was initially listed in August 2017 for $25 million but the asking price had dropped to $17.5 million by the time the sale entered contract in July this year.
