The Corcoran Group

George Malamas has joined the Westhampton Beach office.

Raised in the restaurant business in Manhattan, for 25 years Mr. Malamas spent weekdays running his restaurants in the city and spending weekends in the Hamptons. In 1994 he moved to Westhampton Beach full-time and got into real estate two years later.

According to Mr. Malamas, restaurants and real estate are very similar in that you really need to love working with all types of people if you expect to do well in either. Running a successful restaurant is very time-consuming, but when a customer leaves happy you know they will be back, he said, adding that it’s the same in real estate.

Reach him at (516) 443-3000 or by e-mail at george.malamus@corcoran.com.

Bob Gale has joined Corcoran’s Southampton office.

Mr. Gale was born in Manhattan and raised in Great Neck before graduating from New York University and receiving his master’s in business administration from Bernard Baruch College.

During most of his career, he lived and worked in Manhattan, holding senior advertising and marketing positions. He has spent summers in Southampton since 1996, and with his wife moved to the East End permanently in 2004.

Reach Mr. Gale at (646) 318-0828 or by e-mail at robert.gale@corcoran.com.

In mid-September, Corcoran Group released a Corcoran real estate application for Google’s Android platform, which is now available on all Droid smart phones. Corcoran launched its first real estate app on Apple’s iPhone in December 2009.

The new Android app, which can be accessed from anywhere in the world, features available properties in all Corcoran markets, including Manhattan, Brooklyn, the East End and South Florida. The Android parallels Corcoran’s iPhone app, featuring the same capabilities in searching for properties, open houses, full-screen photos and the ability to contact the agent directly from the listing.

Find more information about the Corcoran Android app at corcoran.com/android. Download the app by searching for “Corcoran” in the Android Market.
