Families across New York State could be eligible to access more than $59 million in funds to help construct, rehabilitate and improve their homes.
The funding has been made available to income-eligible families through the Affordable Home Ownership Development Program of New York State Homes and Community Renewal, which is administered by the Affordable Housing Corporation. Municipalities, housing authorities and other nonprofit organizations, could receive as much as $40,000 per dwelling to help homeowners pay for needed repairs.
Grants are available through a formula based on the median income of the given area and family size—up to $35,000 for households at or below 90 percent of their area median income; up to $27,500 for households at or below 110 percent; and up to $25,000 for households at greater than 110 percent.
Applications for the Affordable Home Ownership Develop Program are due by Friday, July 8. For information and to apply, visit www.nyshcr.org/topics/municipalities/ahcgrants.
