Sometimes we pretend to be Vivien Leigh as Scarlett O’Hara in Gone With The Wind, descending a grand staircase in true upper crust fashion—even if it’s only two steps down our back porch. Don’t roll your eyes; at least we’re not taking duck face selfies! In honor of this most esteemed of pastimes, here are five dramatic staircases that would make anyone feel like Hollywood royalty.

1. Rose Hill Road, Water Mill, $39 Million

Yup, this cast bronze double staircase definitely gets top billing, and it was totally inspired by the movie. At least, that’s what we think. And you know what two staircases means, right? Both you AND a friend could be Gone With The Wind divas at the same time! There also happens to be a 19th century stained-glass skylight overhead. No biggie. Just make sure that whenever you use these stairs you’re wearing your black tie best. Listed with Douglas Elliman.

2. Halsey Lane, Bridgehampton, $8.95 Million

Now, this is one fine, and shiny, entryway. You could see your reflection in that finished floor! The crystal chandelier and giant vase centerpiece are also nice touches. We think the double height ceiling and arched doorway would be a lovely complement to our perfectly normal, nothing-to-see-here Hollywood dress up game. Listed with Corcoran.

3. Old Mill Road, Water Mill, $9.295 Million

This entrance is definitely more modern than its predecessors, and it’s very, very white. It would probably better serve as the backdrop for a bloody Quentin Tarantino fight scene. But we’re lovers not fighters, so that scenario is hitting the cutting room floor. The classically arched stairway and double height ceiling adds a touch of grandeur, although the sizable Buddha statue is a tad out of place for our fantasy needs. Listed with Corcoran.

4. Dune Road, Westhampton Beach, $4.99 million

There’s no other way to say this: This entrance is kinda weird. Is the house on a hill or does it just want to look like it’s higher than everyone else? Hard to say. But it also looks like there’s no way to NOT make a dramatic descent, no matter what is being worn. So, go ahead and don those jammies. Then, glide on down the stairs and let your inner A-lister shine. (Not for nothing, but this house has a dramatic double stairway inside as well.) Listed with Corcoran.

5. Burnt Point, Wainscott, $95 million

It’s the one and only Burnt Point and we think the best luxurious note to end on. There are soaring ceilings, paneled walls, dramatic paintings, and a chandelier that hangs above a carved wooden table that looks like it could seat 10. This surpasses what’s on our Hollywood checklist. After all, we just wanted a nice staircase! With this gem, we couldn’t (and shouldn’t) ask for anything more. Listed with Corcoran.
