There’s no doubt about it: The waterfront retreat at 140 Hayground Cove Road in Water Mill was literally built for a producer.

Jane Rosenthal, who has been actor Robert De Niro’s producing partner since 1988 — earning an Oscar nod for Best Picture for producing “The Irishman” — and her ex-husband, real estate investor and philanthropist Craig Hatkoff, sold their home for $13 million on February 8, trading hands with an unnamed LLC, according to the Real Estate Report Inc.

Bespoke represented both sides of the deal.

The 6,000-square-foot residence is home to five bedrooms, six baths, a private dock, heated Gunite pool, tennis court and a carriage house. “Meticulous landscaping, ample lawn space and captivating southwesterly sunset views offer the perfect backdrop to renovate or rebuild your dream home,” the listing said.

In 1994, Hatkoff and Rosenthal custom-built the house after buying the 2.8-acre bayfront parcel, which abuts reserve to the north and overlooks Hayground Cove and Mecox Bay, for just $475,000.

The couple, who announced their divorce in 2014 after a 19-year marriage, co-founded the Tribeca Film Festival with De Niro in response to the September 11, 2001, attacks on the World Trade Center, and the consequent loss of vitality in the TriBeCa neighborhood in Lower Manhattan.

Over the years, Rosenthal and De Niro have worked on numerous films, including “Wag the Dog,” “Meet the Parents” and “The Good Shepherd.”

Hamptons Rental Market Remains Alive and Well

To paraphrase Mark Twain, reports of the demise of the Hamptons summer-rental market are greatly exaggerated. “Any hint that the Hamptons rental market is anything but robust is completely wrong,” said Corcoran associate broker Gary DePersia in East Hampton. An interesting dynamic is stirring in the Hamptons vacation-rental market. Although there has been an unprecedented rise in short-term rentals and the aftershocks of the COVID-19 pandemic linger, it has been a bumper crop year for Wall Street, interest rates have remained steady and a new breed of demanding customer is emerging. Despite it all, the Hamptons vacation-rental market remains as ... 19 Jun 2025 by Joseph Finora
