UPDATE: 11:15 A.M.

According to East Hampton Town Police, Route 114 has been reopened following a downed utility pole that was blocking the roadway at Plank Road.

Police and East Hampton Fire Department personnel responded to a single car crash at about 12:30 a.m. on Tuesday that knocked down a utility pole, causing it to block the roadway. Route 114 was closed between Goodfriend Drive and Whooping Hollow Road for several hours while crews from utility company PSEG worked on replacing the pole and repairing the wires.

According to East Hampton Police Chief Michael Sarlo, the driver who hit the pole, Thomas Pazera, 49, of Sag Harbor, was arrested and charged with Driving While Intoxicated and is awaiting arraignment in East Hampton Justice Court.

A downed utility pole has forced the closure of Route 114 in East Hampton on Tuesday morning, between Goodfriend Drive and Whooping Hollow Road.

Motorists should find alternate routes to travel between Sag Harbor and East Hampton.

East Hampton Town Police say the road could be closed for an extended period this morning as crews repair the downed lines.
