Ann Schiavoni of Sag Harbor died in her home surrounded by loved ones on June 20. She was 89.
Beloved wife, mother, friend, and community member, she died two years to the day after her husband of 64 years, Fran Schiavoni, died.
Born on February 22, 1934, she was raised in East Hampton by her parents, Margaret and Harry O’Rourke, with her siblings: Harry, Peggy, and Billy. She married Fran Schiavoni in 1957, and made a home.
She was a wife, a mother, a sister, and a friend. She was a role model of how to live a good life full of productive work, community service, and love of family, her family said, noting that she was “a character.” She had an infectious laugh and a love of people, they said, and would greet people warmly with a smile. She loved to dance, play golf, and spend time with her beloved grandchildren. She will be missed, her family said.
She is survived by her children and their spouses, Fran and Gail, Matt and Judi, Ted and Mary, Tommy John and Andrea, and Catherine and Simon; and by her nine grandchildren, Rob, J’aime, April, Julia, Meg, Matt, Anna, Thomas and Sam.
Services were held on June 27 at the St. Andrews R.C. Church in Sag Harbor.
In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Andrew’s R.C. Church (standrewchurchsagharborny.org) would be welcome.
