I would like to express my sincere appreciation and gratitude to the police department of Sag Harbor and the traffic control officers.
I needed to get to the post office and had forgotten my own golden rule to never leave home during peak summer months. The traffic was so intense, in fact, like midtown Manhattan, and it took 45 minutes of searching to even find a parking spot. I rejoiced to find any space at all — but after my errands couldn’t remember where that spot was.
It was the worst day to be stranded in the 95-plus-degree heat wave, and after searching for far too long, I sought the help of a TCO to join the search. When she couldn’t find it either, my New York City paranoia kicked in, and I became convinced the car had been stolen. The TCO called the Sag Harbor Village Police (for the purpose of preparing a stolen car report). The officer suggested that before filing a stolen vehicle report, he would search the municipal lot and adjacent areas one more time.
He found the car in a lot that I didn’t remember parking in, and the purpose of this post is to thank the two officers for their support and to apologize for even suggesting that the car had been stolen.
