HarborFrost, Sag Harbor’s annual celebration of winter, returns to the village this weekend with a packed schedule of events culminating with a Grucci fireworks display off Long Wharf on Saturday night.
“Like most chamber events, HarborFrost was conceived and is organized annually to support businesses in Sag Harbor and attract foot traffic during the offseason months,” said Ellen Dioguardi, the president of the Sag Harbor Chamber of Commerce. “This year, there’s something for everyone: live music, ice carving, fire dancers, children’s activities inside several shops, and world-famous fireworks by Grucci off Long Wharf.
“It has always been one of my favorite days in Sag Harbor, and I believe this year’s event will be better than ever.”
The celebration kicks off with a party featuring culinary treats from 15 restaurants, in the Sag Harbor Cinema from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
On Saturday, the cinema will show “Where the North Begins,” featuring Rin Tin Tin, on its vitrines all day long.
The Friends of the Long Pond Greenbelt will sponsor a kid’s trail hike from Mashashimuet Park to the Long Pond Greenbelt starting at 10 a.m. The Sag Harbor Hysterical Society’s annual Culinary Stroll will run from 11:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., starting at K Pasa restaurant. Ice carving by Ice Memories will take place at the corner of Madison and Main streets at noon, and again at 2:30 p.m., at John Steinbeck Waterfront Park.
Special events, from tasty treats to live music, will be held at village businesses throughout the day.
HarborFrost culminates with fire dancing by Keith Leaf and His Flaming Friends at Long Wharf and Windmill Beach at 5 p.m. and a fireworks display off Long Wharf by Grucci beginning at 5:45 p.m.
A full listing of the many events that will be going on throughout the business district can be found in the special HarborFrost section in this week’s paper or at the chamber’s website, sagharborchamber.com.
