The Kramoris Gallery in Sag Harbor will host its very first “Thanksgiving-Akuh,” a melding of Thanksgiving and Hanukkah, on Sunday, November 26, from 2 to 5 p.m.
As part of the event, there will be a reading and book signing by Erica Kalick, author and founder of the Brooklyn-based Erica’s Rugelach and Baking Co., who will read from “Eating Delancey: A Celebration of Jewish Food” by Aaron Rezny and Jordan Schaps.
Kalick will give her own stand-up, comedic spin on how her company came to be included in the book, along with Jewish luminaries such as Joan Rivers, Itzak Perlman, Milton Glaser, Lou Reed, to name just a few.
The book has been described as “a delectable compendium of recipes, mouth-watering photographs, profiles of legendary establishments, jokes, and food-related sentimental stories by some of New York’s most interesting Jews about the beloved foods their immigrant ancestors transplanted from Europe to the Lower East Side in the early 20th century: knishes, kasha, dill pickles, bagels, lox, pastrami, whitefish, egg creams, and more.”
The reading begins at 3 p.m. Music by Robert Secrist will fill the room before and after the reading. Secrist will sign copies of his new CD, “Songs Without Words.”
There will be food fare from the Jewish diaspora, including sweets from Erica’s Rugelach & Baking Co.
