Michael Greig Smith of Southport, North Carolina, and Sag Harbor, died on April 11. He was 82.
He was born January 2, 1941, in New York, New York, son of the late William T. and Margaret Noy Smith.
Smith was a graduate of Xavier High School in New York, and the College of The Holy Cross in Worcester, Massachusetts.
He was a lieutenant in the U.S. Marine Corps, where he served as a platoon commander in amphibious vehicles. In addition to being a captain in the reserves, he was an avid skier, marathon runner, and triathlete.
His favorite leisure activities included boating in Sag Harbor and golf.
He is survived by his wife, Robyn Hartmann Smith; twin sons, Scott W. Smith and Michael C. Smith and his wife Kathryn Morrissette; and two grandsons, Dillon Smith and Wyatt Smith. He was predeceased by his brother, Peter Noy Smith.
