As a resident of North Haven for almost 50 years, it has been my pleasure to serve our village for 34 years. As a member of the Traffic Calming Committee, I worked with Fred Thiele and was instrumental in introducing bike lanes and a roundabout to create safer roads for all.
I served on the Architectural Review Board for 16 years, including six years as chairperson.
During this time, I collaborated with our attorney and environmental consultants to create the floor area ratio, helping to preserve the character of our village and maintain high property values.
For the past 14 years, I have served as a trustee, including 10 years as deputy mayor. One of my most treasured accomplishments was the creation of Pirate Park, our popular children’s playground, without spending any taxpayer money. I also initiated and still maintain our Little Free Library, and oversaw the renovation, relocation and restoration of our one-room schoolhouse to the playground area, providing parking and restrooms.
I am proud to say that the schoolhouse has been revitalized in its new location and has been visited by schools and the John Jermain Library for book clubs. I was responsible for installing solar panels on Village Hall, banning gas-powered leaf blowers, and working on limiting light pollution, helping residents enjoy tranquility in their homes.
If I am elected again, I would like to see our little village remain just that: little. For the first time in 14 years, I voted against our annual budget, because I believe in more responsible spending, mindful that we are not a large corporation or town. I also advocate for reducing the amount of signage on our village roads and promise to listen to the people.
As a registered nurse, a mother and a grandmother who raised her children here, I am a nurturer by nature and education. I promise to continue to care for our village in the best way I can.
