The Sag Harbor Board of Education officially adopted a new policy on Monday night for requirements to graduate with distinction, and also eliminated the class rank policy. The district will continue to name a valedictorian and salutatorian for the senior class, but, starting with the class of 2026, will use a Latin honors system in place of class rank. Sag Harbor Board of Education members looked over and discussed a first draft for a proposed elimination of class rank and the introduction of a Latin honors system as a new requirements policy for graduating with distinction at the latest board meeting on Monday night.
