Enough of elected officials guilt tripping the public by equating opposition to a poorly conceived local law and an equally ill-advised development with opposition to low-income housing. Enough of lectures from local “professionals” with inaccurate village history condemning and accusing local activist groups of negative intentions for opposing that law and development.
Everyone on the East End knows that there is a housing problem that needs to be addressed (actually, it is nationwide). However, I do not think that the problem should be addressed with “solutions” that in themselves create problems, like sewage, parking, traffic congestion, flooding, area density, etc., for the village.
I, and many residents, long-term and recent, do not think that the law and development were a solution that is in the best interest of all the residents of Sag Harbor. The political entities that have the resources — land, funds, organization — are the towns, county and state. Our village should work with them on the housing issue.
