With the appointment by the Sag Harbor Village Board of Lieutenant Robert Drake as chief of police [“Sag Harbor Will Appoint Drake as New Police Chief,” 27east.com, April 23], the Sag Harbor Village Board has brought a difficult chapter to a close and appointed a widely respected law enforcement professional with an outstanding reputation. He is the right man for the job.
Rob is a thoughtful, mature, and seasoned police officer and leader with very high measures of personal and professional character and integrity. He will restore morale and goodwill within the department. And, as he has throughout his career, he will set a bright example of public integrity and commitment for his team of officers and, indeed, for the entire community.
Congratulations and all good wishes to Rob and the fine men and women of the Sag Harbor Police Department as we enter this vital new chapter.
