Local elections are consequential, and I am writing today to throw my support behind Mary Ann Eddy, who is running for one of the two Sag Harbor Board of Trustees seats on June 18. Mary Ann is one of four candidates; residents can pick two. If you care about the environment, consider voting for Mary Ann Eddy on June 18.
As an active member of various South Fork civic, municipal advisory committees and an occasional subcontractor, I’ve found it useful to think of town and village boards as a portfolio of skills. I look at what professions they came from, their educational background and recent community activities.
What are they about? What accomplishments are they credited with? Who are they taking advice from? In this world of perpetual misinformation, do they do any fact-checking? Will they stand their ground on unpopular decisions and say no, or do they respond to the loudest voice in the room?
I would like to see Mary Ann Eddy get elected to the Sag Harbor Board of Trustees, so we have at least one member who is a voice fighting for the environment. Mary Ann Eddy has an impressive list of accomplishments that benefit Sag Harbor residents. Check out maryanneddy.com for details concerning her accomplishments — and vote on June 18.
