A Boomerang

In response to Harry Mainzer [“Thin Threads,” Letters, August 3], with regard to my contempt for Democrat attacks on Justice Clarence Thomas, there was no crime aside from the character assassination derived from U.S. Supreme Court justices being feted by admiring members of the public.

Yes, transparency should be the operating principal for all public officials, but Justice Thomas is no different from his predecessors on the bench and has not the slightest hint of larceny in his character. He is rigidly devoted to our Constitution and has been afforded no shortcuts in his life’s trajectory. Taking vacations is not a crime, but, yes, the perfunctory obligation to file the disclosure form was an error. So there you have it … all of it.

But the allegations of bribes and influence peddling for a sitting vice president are not a similar trifling matter. The current argument by supporters of President Joe Biden that there is no smoking gun in congressional hands to directly link him to high crimes and misdemeanors is going to crumble under the weight of more and more testimony. Following the money ultimately will expose the corruption well masked but evident in the wealth amassed by Joe Biden while living on a government paycheck for 50 years.

Hunter and Joe’s brother created a financial windfall out of access to our vice president. But will you or other supporters of this administration be interested? Sadly, it may be necessary to start another impeachment proceeding to force testimony from participants in this scandal.

I remind you that the weaponization of impeachment by Democrats, much like the implementation of the nuclear option in the Senate, ended up behaving like the boomerang it was predicted to become.
