I found the article “Restoration Of Tupper Boathouse Underway In North Sea” [27east.com, June 16] very informative and interesting. However, I am writing to address an inaccuracy in the article.
Specifically, the article states: “Until the 1750s, the harbor, then known as ‘Feversham,’ was one of the three largest ports on the East Coast, with Philadelphia and Boston.”
This is inaccurate, as, at the time, the ports of New York City and Brooklyn were both clearly larger and busier than Feversham. I also fully expect that Baltimore, Charleston and Montreal were larger ports.
Otherwise, a very well-written and interesting article. I look forward to periodic updates on this redevelopment project.
