A Few Inaccuracies

A Few InaccuraciesA Letter to the Editor in the August 15 issue by Anna Klebnikov Brinsmade [“Role Reversal”], which opposed village incorporation for East Quogue, contained some inaccuracies about how Sagaponack Village has operated.

The letter stated that the land for Sagaponack Village Hall was donated. It was purchased by the village with a bond issue.

The letter said “many of the services are provided for free by local residents.” The only services donated by local residents are those provided by elected officials and members of land use boards, who are unpaid volunteers. There also is a small fund for maintaining and replacing street trees, which receives allocations from the annual village budget and some contributions from residents.
