This app was touted as a new communication tool for residents at the Southampton Village mayor and trustees’ excellent and well-attended State of the Village presentation [“Mayor Delivers First State Of The Village Address,” 27east.com, September 1]. After a quick download and sign-up, I posted that two street lamps were out on our street, a quiet lane where folks walk dogs together in the evenings; thus, having ample working light is critical for safety as we head into fall.
Not 15 minutes later, a bucket truck and two friendly village employees from the Building Maintenance Department were on site, replacing the lamp on one of the dark lampposts. The second post, a little trickier, as the globe also was missing, was then repaired in very short order.
So, kudos to our mayor and trustees for bringing this new interactive tool to our village, and thanks to the Building Maintenance Department for such prompt professional service.
