A Man Of Honor

Today, we got a pleasant surprise in what everybody said was a fait accompli.

Mitt Romney, a Republican U.S. senator, voted to convict Donald Trump and to remove him from office. While I have never been a big fan of Mitt Romney, I congratulate him on his solitary and courageous vote. He explained that his vote was to honor his oath before God in spite of any repercussions that he may suffer.

Mr. Romney has given me hope that, over time, our politics can return to honor, civility and bipartisanship.

I fondly recall President Ronald Reagan and Tip O’Neill working together in an amicable way for the common good and getting a lot done for the American people. I remember the Republican Party of lore: Lincoln, Ike, Baker, Javits, Luger and so many more fine statesmen. I yearn for a return to a Republican Party of truth and integrity and patriotism.

Thank You, Sen. Romney!
