A New Option

It’s time for a change in the Southampton Town tax receiver’s office, after 16 years under the same management.

Fortunately, we now have the option of electing to the post David Glazer, a longtime Southampton resident who offers exceptional qualifications.

It’s also time for some serious experience and professionalism in this important position. David Glazer has been a senior health care executive for over 30 years in government, nonprofit and for-profit enterprises with multimillion-dollar revenues.

An active role in finance and resource allocation, including strategic planning, budget preparation, program design, financial projections, and overall operations management, has characterized David Glazer’s career.

Among many highly responsible positions, David was president and CEO of a behavioral health services provider, which he expanded from a $6 million budget with 150 staff to a budget of over $30 million and a staff of more than 350.

Later, he served as chief operating officer of a for-profit managed care company with $300 million in annual revenue, 16 sites and 700 in staff. In this post, David had direct profit-and-loss responsibility and used metrics as a way to measure productivity.

This focus on effective processes, cost savings and improved systems is in large part what makes David Glazer such a suitable candidate for tax receiver. The office has become mired in routine over 16 years, and routine is the enemy of efficiency, the enemy of excellence. A new leader with a critical eye is badly needed, and David Glazer is that person.

I should also note that David, born and raised on Long Island, served six years in the National Guard and holds Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees from Stony Brook University.

Please join me in voting for David Glazer for Southampton Town tax receiver in November.
