Months ago, The Southampton Press published my suggestion that Southampton’s judicial candidates declare their position on the president’s pardon of the January 6 rioters as a measure of whether it was a safe place for me, a Democrat.
Today, I can only imagine the Suffolk County Republican chairman after they promoted someone who bucked Donald Trump.
But the fact of the matter is that when J.D. Vance makes so many public statements asserting that the executive branch can and should defy judicial orders that he considers illegitimate, judges have to be bristling.
