Adel Rene (Marsh) Wilson, a longtime resident of Southampton, died on October 17. She was 80.

Adel Rene Marsh was born in Baiting Hollow on July 21, 1936. In 1950, she met Charles Ernest “Ernie” Wilson Sr., of Southampton, and they were married on December 31, 1952. Both were well-known in the Southampton community as the owners of Wilson’s Service Center on Hampton Road.

Mrs. Wilson was highly involved in the Ladies’ Auxiliary and VFW, tirelessly knitting hundreds of hats, scarves, and blankets for troops, and participating in many fundraisers. She volunteered at Southampton Hospital, and was a very active member of the United Methodist Church in Southampton.

She is remembered by family and friends as loving, patient, generous, and welcoming. At the Wilson house on Mary’s Lane in North Sea, there was always room for one more at the table, or for one more in the station wagon headed for the beach. Mrs. Wilson committed her life to helping others, regardless of her personal struggles, survivors said.

Mrs. Wilson is predeceased by her husband, Charles E. Wilson Sr.; and a daughter, Veronica Wilson, both in 1996. She is survived by her children, René Tureski and husband Brian; Susan Wilson; Charles E. Wilson Jr. and wife Janice; Barbara Wilson; and Jay Wilson and wife Carol. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren, Christopher Wilson, Gwen and Kyle Tureski, Jean Smith, Dale, Patrick, and Richard Newcomb, Michael and Melissa Wilson, Madison Wilson Piccirillo, and Jason, Jaclyn, and Patrick Wilson; and five great-grandchildren, Dylan and Melanie Smith, Chelsea Rocha, and Jaycee and Wyatt Newcomb.

Visitation was at Brockett Funeral Home on October 22. A funeral service took place at United Methodist Church in Southampton on October 23, followed by interment at Southampton Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to the Kanas Center for Hospice Care on Quiogue, eeh.org; Bishop McGann-Mercy Diocesan High School, 1225 Ostrander Avenue, Riverhead, NY 11901; or the Hampton Bays VFW, 55 Ponquogue Avenue, Hampton Bays, NY 11946.
