Admirable Skills

Transparency and clear communication about decisions affecting full- and part-time Southampton Village residents is a priority for me. As a responsible village property owner and resident, I want to be informed. I want confidence that those governing are focused on serving what will benefit my neighbors, me, and all in this village community.

This is one reason why I wholeheartedly support Ed Simioni for village mayor. I’ve appreciated Simioni’s push, as trustee, for more openness. He values transparency. Before he became trustee, it was hard to know what was discussed or decided. With Simioni as mayor, we can be sure the public will be welcomed at the majority of meetings. A clear communicator, I’m confident Simioni will keep us well-informed.

Secondly, I support Simioni because of his consistent efforts to gather input from residents, especially when the issue directly affects us. He wants the board to represent the interests of village residents and taxpayers. He regularly calls on the board to proactively seek public input. Simioni takes this seriously; his listening skills are admirable.

A third reason to support Ed Simioni: He cares about excessive spending. He has presented creative, thoughtful ideas to tackle the village’s biggest challenges. Simioni is an astute business owner with a strong record of success. One example: His proposal to address the decades-old sewage system problem, a plan that, as I understand it, would make the village more inviting, enjoyable and financially stable.

New projects are often pushed through too quickly, without enough fact-finding or negotiation. I know Simioni will rein in lavish spending.

Simioni is experienced and highly capable: He served over a decade on the Planning Board and has shown strong leadership as trustee. He has spoken out when board decisions seem costly and benefit only the trustees, not the residents they serve.

Having Ed Simioni as trustee has been a welcome change. Now it’s time for him to be our next mayor. I also look forward to Rob Coburn joining the trustees — his superb experience and thoughtful approach will be a great contribution, well aligned with Simioni’s.
