Adolf J. Troiso
Adolf J. Troiso of Hampton Bays, known affectionately as “Al,” died at the New York State Veterans Home in Stony Brook on New Year’s Day. He was 94.
Mr. Troiso was born in Brooklyn, and at age 24 joined the U.S. Army and served in the First Infantry Division during World War II. He was a rifle marksman and saw combat in Europe, fighting valiantly in Italy where he earned the Purple Heart for his service. After returning to the U.S. as an amputee, he married his first wife Vera and lived in the Canarsie section of Brooklyn for years before her death from cancer.
Mr. Troiso moved to East Quogue in 1974 where he met and married Afke in 1981. During their many years of living in Hampton Bays, Mr. Troiso enjoyed entertaining friends and family.
Predeceased by his sisters Angie and Susan, and brothers Frank and Ernie; he is survived by his wife, Afke; stepchildren Kathleen Kennedy and husband Brian, Jeff Florimont and wife Lori, Edmund Florimont and his partner, Patty, John Benedetto and wife Angela, Joan and Joyce. He is also survived by grandchildren, Annika and Marissa Kennedy, Victoria and Jeffrey Florimont, Thomas Benedetto, John Benedetto, and Andrea Benedetto Felbinger, and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
A memorial gathering was held at the R.J. O’Shea Funeral Home on January 3, with a funeral Mass at the Church of St. Rosalie on January 4; interment followed at Calverton National Cemetery.
