Advocate for All

In May 2019, I received a call from a friend who was a former Southampton Village trustee sharing with me about a young man in his 30s who knocked on his front door — he was running for mayor of the Village of Southampton. My friend was extremely impressed with Jesse Warren and suggested that I look him up on his website and perhaps contact him.

Reading his bio and how he addressed the long overdue village issues was like opening a window and having a breath of fresh air lift my hopes for the village. The village, in my opinion, was stuck, stagnated, not progressing into the modern era.

I emailed Jesse that evening, and we met the following afternoon, with a neighbor. What was to be a short meet/greet turned into over an hour chat.

Those of you who have met Jesse realize from the get-go the passion he has for making daily progress on issues of great importance for the village residents to better their quality of life. He is a sincere listener, problem-solver and a personable, genuinely caring man; his highest personal qualities are being a leader and advocate for all.

I committed my energies to electing Jesse Warren in 2019, Mayor Jesse in 2021, then again this year, Mayor Jesse 2023, to complete the job he began in 2019.

Folks have alluded to him as “a politician” — that statement couldn’t be further from the truth. If their definition of “a politician” is seeing their mayor maturing daily in embracing the challenges of displaying leadership, finding ways to strategize policy, securing thousands in grant money, listening to citizens’ concerns (returning calls to residents within an hour, assuring them a solution will be found), creative/innovative/out-of-the-box thinking for finding solutions for pertinent issues — their definition is not mine.

Mayor Jesse has not only become a treasured friend of mine but my family as well. Jesse’s ability to only see the positive in people’s actions, remain with an upbeat/positive attitude during challenging times, always focused on the issues that impact his village residents, serving as their duly elected mayor, is a testament to his character. He has remained above the fray, with integrity and continual daily leadership.

Please reelect my deserving friend Mayor Jesse Warren on Friday, June 16, at the Cultural Center, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
