Albert C. Antonino Sr.
Albert C Antonino Sr., a native of Southampton, died at his home in Delray Beach, Florida on Saturday, November 19. He was 79.
Born in Brooklyn, he was one of three children raised by parents Carlo and Carmen Antonino. Mr. Antonino enlisted in the U.S. Air Force soon after finishing high school and made his way through the ranks to staff sergeant. He served in the Korean War, stationed in Japan, and afterwards was stationed in Montauk.
Upon his discharge from the Air Force, Mr. Antonino managed Strong Oil in Water Mill for a short period of time and then worked as a salesman for the Dunlop Tire Company. Years later, he was a partner in Tire Care, a business in Patchogue, and later became a partner in International Tire and Wheel Corp.
Mr. Antonino had a passion for writing songs and poetry as well as painting his favorite landscapes from his many travels around the world. He loved to race homing pigeons earlier in his life and will be remembered most for his humorous, lengthy stories which everyone adored. Mr. Antonino touched the lives of many people with his smile and generosity, and maintained his trademark sense of humor all the way to the end of his life, family said.
He is survived by his brother, Ronald Antonino; children, Albert Jr., Suzanne and Maryann; his grandchildren, Destiny, Lily, Emily, Benjamin and Dylan; and countless other family and friends who were blessed to know him. He was predeceased by a daughter, Lori Moritz, and wife of 15 years, Anna Wojcik.
Visitation took place on Friday, November 25, at the O’Connell Funeral Home in Southampton. A funeral service was held on Saturday, November 26, at Our Lady of Poland Catholic Church also in Southampton, followed by a memorial reception at 230 Down.
