Former Sag Harbor resident Alexander S. Wenski died on November 4 in Penn Yan, New York. He was 85.

He served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Bennington from 1945 to 1946, then worked at Grumman Aerospace in Calverton for many years. He also enjoyed fishing and boating in Sag Harbor.

He is survived by two daughters and their husbands, Denise and Jerome Jose of Keuka Park, New York, and Alexis and Mark Roberts of Owego, New York; two sisters, Alice Bill of Noyac and Mary Freeborn of Florida; two grandchildren, Alexander and Alyona Roberts; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his wife, Cecelia Wenski, in 2001.

Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Johnson-Kennedy Funeral Home Inc. in Canandaigua; interment of ashes was at St. Andrew’s Cemetery in Sag Harbor.

A memorial mass will be held on Tuesday, March 31, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Andrew’s Church in Sag Harbor. Mr. Wenski’s nephew, Bishop Thomas Wenski of Orlando, Florida, will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Sag Harbor Volunteer Exempt Firemen’s Benevolent Association, P.O. Box 2087, Sag Harbor, NY 11963 or Sag Harbor Volunteer Ambulance Corps, P.O. Box 2725, Sag Harbor, NY 11963 would be appreciated by the family.
