Alfred Robbins Valentine Jr. of East Quogue died on August 6 after a long battle with cancer. He was 74.

He maintained lifelong friendships that could only be a result of his friendly, kind and easy going nature.

He held a masters in photography and moved on to take over the 110-year-old family insurance business, The Valentine Agency. This business was located in Mineola, where he was a Kiwanis Club and Nassau County Historical Society member.

He was also a lifelong Rotary Club member in Bayville, where he raised his family. A father who put family first, he spent his spare time at the beach, on his boat or on the golf course, always with a smile and a laugh.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Stefenie; his children, Jessica (Len Whitney), Abbie (M. Ashley Armstrong) Ashley, Grant (M. Hawley Walker); two grandchildren, Logan and Blakely and their dog Noodles.

Services will be held at the Werner-Rothwell funeral home in Westhampton Beach on August 15, from 4–8 p.m., with words of remembrance at 7 p.m.
