Alice Shira Caputo Of Sag Harbor Dies February 18

Alice Shira Caputo of Sag Harbor died on February 18. She was 77.

Born February 2, 1939, she was the daughter of John and Ruth Willer, both of whom predeceased her. She was a member of the Red Hat Society and the Daughters of the American Revolution. In addition to traveling with her husband of 55 years, Gino Elio Caputo, she enjoyed shopping for antiques, crocheting, creating stained glass pieces and putting together family photo albums. For 15 years she worked at King Kullen, most recently behind the snack bar, and although she held a few other jobs, her greatest accomplishment was raising her children and keeping the books for her husband’s plumbing business.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Regina Caputo and Tina Moley Miano; and a son, Gino Caputo; sisters, Laura Willer of Michigan, Kay Jean Jung of Michigan, Patricia Shaw of Amagansett; and brothers, John Willer of Michigan and Gordon Lyon. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren and 42 nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by a sister, Ruth Farsworth; a brother, Charles Willer; and a daughter, Terri Moley.

A funeral service was held at St. Andrew’s Church in Sag Harbor on February 22. Arrangements were under the direction of the Yardley and Pino Funeral Home in Sag Harbor. Burial followed at the church cemetery.
