Alvin L. Ogus
Alvin L. Ogus of Westhampton died on September 9 at Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center in East Patchogue. He was 81.
A retired field service manager for IBM, he served on one of Mayor Ed Koch’s special committees. Mr. Ogus enjoyed fishing and boating on Great South Bay, classical music, Friday night boxing matches on TV, and working on small-scale model trains. He and his wife, Dorothy, who survives him, also enjoyed their three poodles, Fritz, Hans, and Wolfgang, and riding their bicycles on neighborhood streets.
Mr. Ogus served in the U.S. Army for three years, stationed in Trieste, Italy, during the Korean War.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two brothers, Richard and Robert; a sister, Frances, and many nieces and nephews.
Visiting was at Sinnicksons Moriches Funeral Home in Center Moriches on September 12 and 13. Pastor John Fleischmann officiated at a religious service on September 14. Interment with military honors followed at Calverton National Cemetery.
