Alvin “Al” Stanley Kawecki of Water Mill died on December 19 at Angels Grace Hospice in Wisconsin in the presence of family. He was 86.

A World War II U.S. Navy veteran, Mr. Kawecki was a graduate of Columbia University, a builder of custom homes, and a president of the Bay Shore Lions Club.

His passions were boating, fishing, reading, building, gardening, music and cards, with poker his favorite.

He loved living near the water and spent every summer of his life enjoying life near the shore with his family. Referring to Mr. Kawecki as “a good guy always,” survivors said this week that he “will stay in our hearts forever.”

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Harriet Kawecki, three daughters and their husbands, Susan and Dutch Beukenkamp, Christina and Jon Boshard and Jean and Ken Maio; a son, David and his wife Linda Kawecki; three sisters, a brother; six grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
