The Amagansett Village Improvement Society (AVIS) will join naturalist and photographer Dell Cullum’s group this Saturday at 9 a.m. at the tennis courts at the head of Atlantic Avenue. Volunteers are welcome. This is a great high school community service opportunity. Bags and gloves will be provided. I hope to see you there.
The Junior Lifeguard Training and Testing Program takes place every Sunday from 1 to 2 p.m. at the YMCA Rec Center. Check-in takes place at 12:45 p.m. and a parent must be present. This program is for ages 9 to 14. You must be 9 years old by July 1. This is such a great program and a great opportunity to have your child learn all about our waters and how to be safe. Please remember, even if you were a junior lifeguard last year you still must pass the test this year.
The East Hampton Sportsman’s Alliance will have its annual Sportsmen Expo at the Amagansett Firehouse on Saturday, April 18, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. rain or shine. Admission is free and this is a great family event.
The summer kickoff party to benefit the Junior Lifeguard and Lifeguard Training Program takes place Saturday, April 25, from 7 to 11 p.m. at the West Lake Fish House in Montauk. Tickets are $35 per person or $50 per couple. There will be music by the “Party Crashers,” happy hour bar prices and great prizes. On Sunday, April 26, from 3 to 6 p.m., there is a spaghetti dinner to benefit the East Hampton Boy Scouts of America Troop 298. The event will take place at the American Legion Hall. Take-out is also available. Hampton Nails on Main Street next to D’Canela’s is selling tickets and the cost is $10. Stop in and get a ticket and maybe a mani/pedi, too.
The First Presbyterian Church of Amagansett holds its worship service Sundays at 11 a.m. All members of the community are welcome to attend.
St. Michael’s Lutheran Church holds its worship service Sunday at 11 a.m.
St. Peter’s worship service is at 9 a.m., followed by a coffee hour on the front lawn, weather permitting.
The Amagansett Satellite of the East Hampton Food Pantry takes place at St. Michael’s on Tuesdays from 4 to 6 p.m. Donations and volunteers are always welcome.

For families on spring break, the life-size Candy Land game will be available for playing until Saturday, April 11. Drop by the children’s room anytime.
On Saturday, April 11, at 3:30 p.m., there will be a workshop for families to make a recycled jar lid magnet.
For grades 3 to 6 on two Sundays, April 12 and 19, stop by the library to create a letter of the alphabet quilt square at 2 p.m.
April is National Poetry Month. For kindergarten through grade six, the library is offering a workshop to illustrate a poem on Sunday, April 12 and Sunday, April 19, at 2 p.m. The illustration can be taken home or displayed in the library.
