An Absurd Idea

The idea of large party boats, over 50 feet in size, in the Mill Creek of Noyac Bay is absurd [“Hidden Cove Marina in Noyac Undergoes a Major Transformation,” 27east.com, September 5]. It is a very small inlet with narrow passage, and it is not very deep.

Historically, boats over 50 feet were never allowed in this area. It is a quiet area with many wildlife: osprey, egrets, herons, cormorants, eagles, piping plover, many fish, shellfish, etc. There is a balance of nature that will be greatly harmed by large boats churning up the soil and water, producing harmful emissions, and, of course, a lot of noise that will disturb the wildlife, as well as the people. It would be disastrous for the ecosystem that has been mostly undisturbed and stable for many years now.

The humans who live in the area have been respectful of nature and its beauty, and use it for relaxation, walking, swimming, kayaking, paddleboarding, and quiet boating and fishing. Big boating machines and all the harm they bring with them do not belong in this quiet, small, protected inlet.

Please be aware that expansion of the Hidden Cove Marina to include large party boats and crowds of people and activity would be very detrimental to the health of Mill Creek. Our Earth is already in enough trouble. We don’t need to expand destruction of the habitat to this small inlet.
