An Advertisement?

In regards to your article “Factory-Built” [Residence, March 7], which features the benefits of prefabricated housing, should any attention be given to the amount of commerce and employment dependent upon conventional site building here on the East End of Long Island?

What was the author thinking? Was this an advertisement?

Thousands of tradesmen and dozens of supply yards exist here for the purpose of keeping the East End what it is known for — and that isn’t prefab houses.

Do the cargo ships travel under sail power? Should European industry be promoted over American craftsmanship?

Someone might have driven around town and spoken with the people involved with home building here before print — this story may have come out a little differently.
