Southampton Village’s young and energetic mayor, Jesse Warren, presented his plan for the cleanup of Lake Agawam to the Southampton Rotary Club on Thursday, October 24. Lake Agawam has been severely polluted for nearly 100 years. Several cleanup efforts have been tried in the past, and none was effective. But … this time, I really think it will be different!
Mayor Warren’s great enthusiasm has gathered the support of most of the homeowners around the lake, and he has put together a package combining many of the better ideas from the previous attempts, along with new technologies that did not even exist before. The overall plan is awesome!
My grandfather took swimming lessons in Lake Agawam when he was 10 years old. I would love to see Annie, my 2-year-old granddaughter, do the same.
