Ann Cogswell Vose of New York City died on June 9, 2018, after an extended illness. She was 89.
Born in New York City on July 26, 1928, she was the daughter of the late William F. Cogswell and Estelle O’Brien Cogswell, and a graduate of The Chapin School and attended Manhattanville College. She enjoyed a 10-year career at Harper’s Bazaar in the 1950s and 1960s where she became a sportswear editor.
Mrs. Vose was a longtime resident of Southampton, and later, Quogue. She was a member of the Colony Club, Shinnecock Hills Golf Club, the Meadow Club in Southampton and the Southampton Bathing Corporation. She was predeceased by her husband, Elliott Evans Vose. She was previously married to the late Esmond King Murphy.
She is survived by a sister, Cynthia Eaton; daughter Nona Murphy Collin; son-in-law William Collin; granddaughter Katherine Elliott Collin; daughter Aleta Murphy Gleason; granddaughter Eugenie Gleason; grandson Francis Gleason; daughter Esme Murphy; son-in-law David Klopp; grandson Harrison Klopp; granddaughter Esme Klopp; and two great-granddaughters, Eudora and Elliott Buonanno.
The funeral is private.
